What is Intercessory Worship?

Intercessory worship is a flow of intercession and worship orchestrated by the Holy Spirit. Prayer and fasting supported by prophetic music and spontaneous song and dance--with intercessors, singers, musicians, and dancers all flowing together in the Holy Spirit. Great manifestations take place as prophetic music and dance are uplifted before the Lord as a sweet savor unto His throne.

Introduction

God is calling forth intercessors in this hour who are willing to offer themselves to night and day prayer and worship. He is beckoning the Anna's (the intercessors) who are willing to sacrifice themselves on the altar for the greater good, and to stand in the gap for the people and for the Kingdom. These intercessors may or may not be called to the five-fold ministry or bear a ministry title, but are consumed by a burning desire to pray and worship.

The time has come for intercessors to unite - and in doing so - to create a spiritual energy that will cause an explosion of God's power in the earth. Second Watch Prayer Ministry provides a forum for intercessors to come together to pray the heart and mind of the Father and to gain knowledge and strength from their co-laborers in the spirit.

Intercessors and others gather monthly to participate in services that vary each month in content under the direction and guidance of the Holy Spirit. However, prayer, worship and intercession is the common thread that remains consistent throughout.

The prayer model includes four basic prayer formats:

  • Intercessory Prayer: designed to pray for either a general breakthrough of revival or for specific prayer requests and prayer targets. We pray continuously that the passion and fire for prayer be rekindled in the Body of Christ and for a Spirit of intercession to prevail in the land.

  • Prophetic Worship: designed to facilitate a corporate worship experience orchestrated by the Holy Spirit and facilitated by a worship leader; and includes ministry times for healing and deliverance.

  • Word Ministry: provides mentoring and training in prayer and fasting and the Word. It is important to pray scripturally, because God responds to His Word. His Word is His will.

  • Devotional Worship: Also called "Soaking", designed to provide an anointed atmosphere for individuals to meditate on the Scriptures as they linger in God's presence. The songs and music is devotional in focus.

Why We Pray When We Pray?

The ancient Romans divided the night into military watches instead of hours, each watch representing the period for which sentinels or pickets remained on duty. There are four prayer watches that terminate respectively at 9 P.M., midnight, 3 A.M. and 6 A.M.

Intercessors are spiritual gatekeepers or watchmen. During the early morning hours of 12 a.m. to 6 a.m., witchcraft and other demonic activity are at its height. The idea is to fortify the City through prayer and intercession from 9p.m. to Midnight, before this demonic activity peaks.

During this time, intercessors engage in spiritual warfare to unleash the power of God, to pull down and destroy strongholds over the area; abort diabolical activity; and act as reinforcement to those prayer warriors who serve in the heat of the battle from Midnight to 6 a.m. Hence, the Ministry gets its name from the core hours that it has committed to pray.

Ephesians 6:12 NKJV "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places."

Matthew 18:18-19 NIV "Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven: and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. ...if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven."
